We all want to constantly be connected to the Internet, and whether or not you’re tech-savvy, Wi-Fi will make that connection easy. While the Wi-Fi hotspots continue to spread, there will be millions who’ll benefit. It was announced that Comcast – in support of Universal Orlando – would be providing a heightened Internet experience for all theme park patrons. Universal Orlando, which comprises of Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida and the Universal CityWalk, now uses “The Official Universal Orlando Resort App”, and XFINITY Internet helped to make the app a success.
XFINITY’s contribution is hundreds of hotspots at strategic locations such as the main walkways and the attraction queue lines. In essence, patrons of the park are able to access the Internet at pretty much any point they can imagine.
The Official Universal Orlando Resort App can be downloaded by both Android and iOS devices. It is intended to provide park guests with a great way to plan their day and enjoy all that the various points have to offer, boasting features such as information on upcoming shows, special events, and a GPS map that utilizes park images to help guests navigate from “point A” to “point B” with relative ease. Additionally, they will be able to locate the various options for dining, shopping, and of course, the bathrooms.
Why it Works
Those familiar with XFINITY hotspots will know that points of commute, restaurants, and shopping malls are its usual havens, but why should theme parks be excluded from the fun? While the Wi-Fi helps guests to access the app without having to utilize mobile data, its impact goes a lot further.
More than anything, those who visit theme parks are always interested in not only re-living the experience, but also sharing their adventures with as many individuals as possible. Whether they will be posting their pictures or videos of enjoying the various rides on the social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter etc. – or uploading them to their cloud storage space, there will be many attainable Internet-related goals with the service.
How it Works
Whether or not an individual is familiar with the procedure to connect to the XFINITY Wi-Fi, they should have no problem tapping in. Once they look through the list of available wireless networks and located the “xfinitywifi”, they only need to follow the prompts, and then be connected.
Can it be any better?
Theme parks beaming with hotspots to facilitate web connectivity are making every visitor happy. What makes this decision even better, is the fact that the Wi-Fi is free.
Also, with this latest move, whether you’re an XFINITY customer or not, there will be nothing standing in their way of experiencing high speed Internet as they navigate their way through the park.
The Early Indications
Many will argue that a month or two would be quite a short time within which to evaluate success, but the major players associated with the project would put that argument to rest. Early reports indicated that on a daily basis, as many as 5,000 unique devices were connecting to the free Wi-Fi being provided. This would include smart phones, tablets, and all similar devices that individuals would have taken with them.
A Development that has Twice the Effect
While this Wi-Fi initiative is great for the theme parks and patrons, it is at the same time helping Comcast with another. Earlier this year it was announced that Comcast, through its XFINITY Internet service, was working to have some 8 million hotspots across the United States by the end of the year.
Taking into consideration the fact that it was just April that the company had announced that it had surpassed a million hotspots, there were quite a few raised eyebrows when the figure of 8 million was revealed. That being said, it would appear as though this theme park initiative is just one of the many the organization will be utilizing to facilitate its rapid growth. In June, it was reported that their hotspot count was in excess of 3 million – representing an increase of approximately 2 million within a couple months.
In the past, many individuals would have had to wait until they got home to share the pictures of their experience, for fear of utilizing too much of their mobile data. Now, patrons to Universal Orlando have the freedom to do this, as well as access a lot more information about the entertainment venue thanks to XFINITY Wi-Fi.
