The phrase “isn’t he/she just the cutest thing” has probably been said an infinite number of times, and in just about all those instances, the subject of the statement is a baby. For parents, there is arguably nothing more satisfying that watching their child grow, witnessing all their memorable moments. That being said, parents aren’t always around to capture their cutest moments, and even if they were, they would still want the grandparents and friends to share in the experience.
This may soon be possible if design graduate Laura Cornet follows through on her project, and make the gadgets for “baby selfies” commercial. The “New Born Fame” project employs a set of soft crib toys that will automatically capture a video or snap a selfie once the baby’s reach triggers the sensor. The content would then be uploaded to social media platforms such as Facebook. The toys can also register the baby’s movements and track its location.
The social media accounts of parents are already riddled with hundreds of images they take of their babies, so why not allow the babies themselves to get in on the act.
Here is a look at some other tech gadgets designed for babies:
Carkoon
There is arguably nothing more important to the parents of a baby than the safety of the child. For their commute, one of the best techs that a parent could acquire is the car seat known as the Carkoon.
The name Carkoon is coined from the word cocoon, which is the casing for caterpillars and similar insects. In the event of an accident or once the car seat senses impact, the protective covering will be deployed immediately, mimicking the look of a cocoon. Being covered serves the purpose of protecting the child from broken glass or limiting any possible injury that may occur as a result of the impact.
Withings Smart Baby Monitor
As far as baby tech goes, there is arguably none that parents are fond of more than a baby monitor. Simply set it up in their room to hear when they are crying, or just to check that everything is “OK”. Among that very useful product line, the Withings Smart Baby Monitor is one of the standouts.
Like traditional monitors, the Withings Smart Baby Monitor allows parents to hear and see their child, but the additional features are what set this device about others. As many as three individuals can log in to the system remotely to see all that is taking place with the baby, and with a speaker it also makes it possible for them to talk to the child from wherever they are.
Concerned about when it gets dark? The infrared Night Vision LEDs – which turn on automatically – ensure that a clear image is always being delivered. With built-in sensors, parents can also receive a notification if the temperature and humidity of the room is not within the recommended parameters.
MamaRoo Bouncer
It’s quite likely that all babies – and their parents – would want to be inseparable for every moment of every day, but as reality sets in one party will eventually acknowledge that this isn’t exactly possible. Recognizing that babies tend to be restless when they don’t get what they want, the MamaRoo Bouncer is arguably one of the best solutions to keep both child and parent happy.
Again mimicking nature – the name being devised from kangaroo – the baby seat provides loads of fun. Unlike the traditional bouncer that only goes up and down, the MamaRoo also moves from side to side. The movement modes include tree swing, rock-a-bye, car ride, ocean, and of course, kangaroo. Have a baby that loves sounds or a particular song? The smart bouncer also comes equipped with five sounds from nature, and is also compatible with an mp3 player, so they can listen to their favorites while they are up playing or sleeping. Nothing can replace mom and dad, but the MamaRoo Bouncer probably comes the closest.
Origami Power-Folding Stroller
As far as frustrating baby tech goes, a baby stroller would probably win by a landslide if a poll was taken. Parents the world over can attest to the complication of having to fold (or unfold) a stroller while the baby is in hand.
Relieving any sort of frustration is the Origami Power-Folding Stroller by 4moms. With the simple touch of a button, parents can stand aside and watch the stroller fold to their will in a matter of seconds. The LCD dashboard allows the individual pushing the stroller to know what the temperature is like – serving as a precaution for when it gets too hot or too cold, and it also comes equipped with lights to ensure that visibility is not an issue for that evening walk.
